The Hum
2026
Video sculpture (projection, membrane, sound)

<The Hum> begins from the artist's experience of hearing "the Hum," a low-frequency noise audible only to a few and nearly impossible to record or explain. Felt more than heard, it exists neither out there nor inside the head. It arises only in the encounter between an attuned body and the world, a relational event belonging to no single subject.

Tremors gathered from beneath the ground stir a skin-like membrane in irregular intervals. Here sound is a force that physically moves matter; the trembling surface makes visible how non-linguistic vibration becomes body, becomes skin. Across that surface, the voice of a formless being unfolds, asking what it is to be alive. Belonging to no particular body or species, this voice speaks of aliveness not as a property held by individual beings but as a state that emerges in the relations through which they become sensible to one another.
