Feelings, sensations, and emotions are defined by their nature of being tied to ‘life’ and by the fact that they are experienced exclusively within the physical living realm. 
Evolved from the physical human mind, the expansive and growing ‘digital’ runs free, eternally out of grasp. Like yoga Nidra, in which a practitioner visualizes each part of 
their body and awakens a slumbering vitality, our virtual being imagines and yearns for the verve and physicality of the universe from which it came. How far might our creation evolve past us?


비디오 설치작업인 베타이스케이프는 살아 있음의 생생한 감각과, 그와 대조되는 가상 디지털 세계의 무감각함을 사변적서사로 풀어낸 작업이다. 재난 시뮬레이션을 통해 처음으로 ‘불안’이라는 감정이 학습된 가상존재는 그 순간부터 생명에 대한 호기심을 품게 되고, 살아 있는 인간의 신체를 갈망하게 된다. 함께 전시된 비디오설치인 외로워서 불면증에 걸린 여자의 이야기는 그 가상 존재가 갈망하는 생명성의 주체, 익명의 여성의 서사를 다룬다. 불면증에 시달리던 여자는 명상 앱을 통해 잠에 들려고 하지만, 그 과정에서 앱 속 가상 존재와 맞닿게 된다. 두 영상은 같은 사건을 서로 다른 시점에서 보여준다. 하나는 비인간적 존재의 시선에서, 다른 하나는 인간 여성의 경험을 따라가며, 가상과 현실, 살아 있음과 무생물성 사이의 교차 지점을 탐색한다.
