The cat’s whisker drifts quietly along the sewer pipes, sensing the traces left anonymously in everyday life. Meanwhile, a long-defunct satellite, having lost its function, circles the Earth without purpose, observing fragmented remnants from afar. 

In this speculative story, waste is not merely inert matter. It quietly sustains the physical and ontological structure of the city, surrounding our lives and flowing as a spatial current that permeates the body and affect. We inhabit the interior of buildings, unable to perceive the full structure directly, yet we sense its presence through sounds and smells. For instance, when alone in a room, the hollow rush of water resonating through the drainpipes vibrates through the body, inscribing itself affectively and revealing hidden spaces anew. Such currents cannot be fully captured in language, but our bodies already belong to them and respond in kind. Just as microbes invisibly constitute the human body, so too do earthly and orbital wastes form unseen yet essential circulations. The city is not a sealed structure but a porous one, continuously traversed and intersected by diverse existences.
The whisker adrift in the sewer and the abandoned satellite were once antennas aiding the senses of cat and human. Even after their lifespans ended and they were forgotten, they continue to orbit alongside their originals. Sharing this spatial affinity, these two objects reflect urban isolation and fractured human relationships. Within that flow, a foreign woman who had not left her home for two years is suddenly invited into the gaze of these remnants. This story traces the quiet persistence of nonhuman things and the subtle yet tenacious connections that bind the world to its discarded matter.

고양이의 수염은 하수관을 따라 조용히 흘러가며, 일상 속에 익명으로 남겨진 흔적들을 감각한다. 한편, 제 기능을 잃은지 오래된 인공위성은 목적을 상실한 채 지구 궤도를 떠돌며 멀리서 흩어진 흔적들을 지켜본다. 이 사변적 이야기 속에서 폐기물은 단순한 무생물이 아니다. 그것은 도시의 물리적·존재론적 구조를 조용히 떠받치며, 우리의 삶을 감싸고 흐르며 몸과 정동에 스며드는 공간적 흐름으로 존재한다. 우리는 건물 내부에서 살아가며 전체 구조를 직접 볼 수는 없지만, 소리와 냄새를 통해 그 존재를 감각한다. 예컨대 방 안에 혼자 있을 때 들려오는 하수구 파이프 속의 공허한 물소리는 몸을 울리고 정동으로 각인되며, 숨겨진 공간을 새롭게 드러낸다. 이러한 흐름은 언어로는 완전히 담아낼 수 없지만, 우리의 몸은 이미 그 속에 놓여 있고 반응으로 응답한다. 인간의 몸을 보이지 않게 구성하는 미생물처럼, 지상과 우주의 폐기물 또한 눈에 띄지 않지만 필수적인 순환을 만들어낸다. 도시라는 공간은 단단히 닫힌 구조가 아니라 다공성으로 이루어져 있어, 끊임없이 다양한 존재들이 스쳐 지나고 교차한다. 하수구 속 고양이 수염과 버려진 인공위성은 각각 인간과 고양이의 감각을 돕던 안테나였으나, 수명을 다하고 잊힌 뒤에도 본체 곁을 맴돌며 여전히 궤도를 돈다. 이러한 공간적 공통점을 가진 두 물체는 도시적 고립과 단절된 인간관계를 비추어낸다. 그 흐름 속에서 2년 동안 집 밖을 나서지 않았던 한 외국인 여성은 우연히 잔해들의 시선으로 초대된다. 이 이야기는 비인간 사물들의 조용한 지속성과 세계사이에 놓인 미묘하지만 집요한 연결을 그린다.
